Gardena Valley Baptist Church began over 100 years ago with a heart to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to the children of recent immigrants from Japan. They began meeting in a little cottage in Moneta (now, Gardena) on August 16, 1914 and this grew quickly into Moneta Valley Baptist Church.
With the outbreak of World War II, the Japanese community was forced to relocate to internment camps. But afterwards, the faithful returned to Gardena and re-established the church.
In 2009, with our newly remodeled and rededicated facilities, we are excited to continue to expand our mission in an even greater capacity to the South Bay community. We realize that our church has seen its ups and downs over our extensive history, but our call and passion to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and grow his fully devoted followers has always remained the same.
