James Chang
Associate Pastor: Local Missions
I'm a 2nd generation pastor born & raised in an immigrant Taiwanese family. We struggled from the ground up to make a home here in America. Through it, God planted in me a big heart for outsiders. Prior to ministry, I graduated from UCLA in Math, and, from there, pursued work as an urban high school math teacher. My teaching cohort not only worked in, but lived in communities stuck in cycles of poverty in order to help bring about transformation and hope for the future. That experience drew me then into Fuller Seminary where I realized my calling to commit to and help empower the local church. Since 2005, I have joyfully lived, ministered, and walked the streets here in Gardena and the South Bay in order to help the church be the church and bring the hope of Jesus Christ locally in our neighborhood. Alongside my wife, Yuko, and our 3 children: Noah, Hannah, and Jesse, our family loves to take walks around the neighborhood, support local restaurants and businesses, and share the love of God with all our neighbors.
